School Story
'Good Granny Weatherall' is as short story I taught my students in English class.
Granny Weatherall got up each morning, bathed, dressed, brushed her teeth, ate breakfast and sat on her front porch smiling. At her age this was her daily routine. When evening came she went in, ate dinner and went to bed.
The next day and each day thereafter, she did the same.
My students asked, "what is the purpose or moral of this story?"
I replied; "If you live a good, respectful, happy, and honest life, you like Granny Weatherall will sit on your porch each day in your rocking chair, Smiling, reliving each memory of your life."
If not, instead of a smile there will be a frown and tears.
